To provide more capitol to develop the property the Bailey Family sold the large house and the property was carved out for the subdivision. The first streets were Meadow, Middle and Bonfilio. Later, streets such as Lightning and Mustang were developed and named after World War II planes.

White Pines
White Pines was founded in 1938, when Frank Blagen relocated his lumber mill and timber harvesting operations from Calpine, California. It was a thriving town with its own post office, school and workers’ housing until the mill closed in l962 and finally dismantled in 1966. American Forest Products, Inc., which had purchased a controlling interest in the Blagen Lumber Company in 1940, dammed San Antonio Creek to create a 26-acre White Pines Lake to attract homebuyers.
White Pines Lake and Park is a popular recreation spot for residents and visitors for leisurely picnics under towering ponderosa pines. Picnic tables, BBQ rings, children’s playground and volleyball courts are available for public use.
Bring your canoe or kayak (or rent one in town) and cruise the lake, or take a refreshing dip. You can also take a stroll around the lake to the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, and on to the Arnold Rim Trail, a non-motorized multi-use trail between Avery and Arnold.
