Vallecito CA Area Overview

Once one of California’s important early-day mining towns, Vallecito is now a quiet little town tucked off the Highway.

The Dinskelspiel store was built in 1851. This historic Rhyolite building was one of the oldest operating stores in Calaveras county and operated consecutively for 112 years before becoming a private residence. Folklore says that the first pair of Levi’s were sold in this store. 

Vallecito is know for Moaning Caverns, Natural Bridges and Bomb shelter hill a hike with stunning views of New Melones Reservoir. 

The Vallecito area has beautiful, award-winning vineyards with tasting rooms open to the public, along with a regular schedules of special events, concert series and parties.
